It sure has been a while since i last blog. But this time around i am blogging coz i just feel like blogging. Just feel like writing something, say something.

I come to realize today that i really miss my friends back in Penang. I miss having my close friends around me. I miss Penang.

Yesterday i met up with an old friend i have not met like about 12 years ago and she asked me a very significant question that made me ponder. How is KL treating me? Is this where i want to be?

And today, i kept wondering. And with this i just have a few words i would like to say to a few people....

To my sister and her family:
I really miss spending time with you guys. Especially the little ones. Family has always meant something to me. I wish things could be different.

To Ashley who is far far away:
I really miss you, girl. Somehow we just click so well. We get along so well and i just miss the conversations we had. The sleepovers and all the long chats we have. I just wished you are here.

To Josie:
I am sorry i have not been that involved in your life and i am sorry i have missed out so much. Being far apart sure is not helping at all but i do miss you. I was really honoured to be your bride's maid and it was a pleasure being one. Thank you.

To Jamie:
We never really talked when we were back in high school but you are a great friend and i am thankful for that. Somehow i just miss you, babe....

To May Yee:
Sometimes silence means more than words. I am sorry i have not been a better friend or sister to you but i just want you to know that i am thankful and grateful to have you in my life. We have been there for each other thru out these years and there were ups and downs but here we are.

A new year for a new Beginning???

Perhaps not...

A New Year is suppose to be a year full of hope, new beginnings. The start of something new but somehow or rather it is quite the opposite till now. What is to become the year ahead is still a mystery. 2009 came so fast, i don't think i am even ready to welcome the new year. New Year resolution??? Not this year i guess. Probably i should just go with the flow and take things as they come. Maybe i shouldn't plan too long ahead. Maybe i was too busy planning my future that i'm blinded by the near present.

Am i just too naive?? Or still having the mind of a 18 year old??

Another year has passed and i look back and wonder what i've learnt this year. What i've been through and the journey i've taken so far in my career. Am i going down the right track or is there another path awaiting for me somewhere? The uncertainties in life is starting to swallow me up, i cant breathe.

I do hope that someday i can stop bothering what people think about me nor what they say about me and just be me. I wish one day i can just be myself and not be someone i'm not just to please the world around me. Perhaps that should be my new year resolution???

Haunted by the past

Another week has passed as usual. but somehow this week was tougher than the others. I don't know if it's due to my lack of knowledge or just me being the perfectionist once again. Am i expecting too much from myself again?
Is my old self haunting me yet again?

I ponder upon the past sometimes and wonder who i really am. What are the characteristics i possess that build me up to be this lady i am now? I am being over shadowed by my past or am i who i am?

Wherever i go, whatever i do, i will always think of him. Am i like him? Am i disappointing him? Am i doing the right thing? Have i ever made him proud? Where is he when i need him? Can he hear me?

Then....i'll miss him....miss him....miss him....

Here i am again....composing my blog after being back from Melbourne for months. Been up and about.

Finally back to where i started.... Lost~!!!

Happy 2008 - A New Beginning

A very happy new year to all. It's a new beginning for me. What is my new year's resolution? Honestly, i have not really thought about it but even if i have, i am not going to list it down. It should and shall remain as a secret.
I enjoyed myself today and for the first time i celebrated new year in another country. It was kinda fun. The best thing is, we are one of the first in the world to celebrate new year before anyone else in the world. The fireworks were good. Not the best but it was good. Every fireworks is good, isn't it?

I just can't believe another year has gone by and here i am, in a new year, starting a new beginning. I will be leaving Melbourne soon and i am starting to miss Melbourne already. The friends i have made here, the family i have made here. I do miss my family back home but right now, i am seriously not looking forward to go home.

I am praying hard that i will get my PR or TR soon. And i'll be back in Melbourne for sure. I will have to miss the Australian Open Tennis 2008 for i am really broke. But i will be back here again to witness the live show next year. Wait for me.

I do have some special message i would like to send out here before i pen off.

This is specially dedicated to my cell group and everyone in MSF. I have truly enjoyed myself here in Melbourne. And to Pauline, i would not have known the Swinburne cell if it were not for you. I am really thankful and grateful to you. I really appreciate it and God Bless You for that. To Hermin, Tince and Ee Ee, i wanna thank you for the guidance, the care and the help provided when i needed it the most. I wouldn't have enjoyed myself that much if not for you all. I would have known Him if not for you all. And most of all, thanks for attending my graduation. I didn't have my own family there but i had you guys there with me and you all are my family. I really am very grateful. No words can describe how thankful i am for everything.

I pray that all of you will be blessed with everything good in this new year.

To my family back home, Happy New Year. I am coming back soon and may the year be a better year for us. To my friends, it has been great knowing all of you.

If i have done anything to hurt any of u in the past, i would like to ask for your forgiveness. I hope we can let bygones be bygones and start this year with wonderful thoughts and blessing. The sky is our limit. The best is yet to come.

Graduation

19th December 2007 - My graduation day. I know i know. I am suppose to upload these pictures earlier but was busy with some other portfolios. What can i say about this day. Hmm...i woke up early, then went to shop for a decent top to wear for my graduation with Shoan, a young lad i met through Melanie. Everyone else was busy with their own family only to leave me alone with Shoan. I finally found something to wear and went straight home to get ready. To my astonishment, a lot of people came to our place to get ready. Albert came about 3pm to bathe and dress up. And some other people too. The place was crowded.
After Jia Ning bathed, i went on to get ready and put on some make up and off we go to the Harthown Town Hall for our graduation. We had to try our gown and get everything ready. Then of course it's photo taking session. I went to sign up for a package to take my graduation pictures which costs me like AUD$180. They will send it straight back to my home in Penang of course. I hope it turn out nice. The photographers were really good and one of them keep asking us to say "More Money." I reckon he was just trying to make us smile.

My cell group friends all came. Hermin was the first one to arrive but i was too busy to entertain him as i was running around looking for people and taking pictures. Poor Shoan was left alone too holding my camera and my flowers.

Ee Laine and the cell bought a bouquet of flowers for me too. They were beautiful. I got another bouquet from my sis and bil.

It was then time for us to queue up and there was a short briefing in the chandelier room. The blowpipes went on and it was time to go into the hall. I have to tell you, i was so happy i just couldn't stop smiling. I was just that happy.

Okay...this is Melanie, my coursemate and a good friend too. The other guy is Thayalan. I've just met him through Mel. Both of them are also from Malaysia. And of course you can see Hong running to us for photo.

And here....we entered into the hall. The town hall looks really colonial and it is really nice. Very warm. As you can see...all the graduands are entering the hall.

That is me...I know it is a little blur but it is me...and the deputy chancellor...

When it was almost my turn to go up the stage, i was really nervous and excited. There were butterflies in my stomach and i was shaking. I have no idea why. Then i took a moment to dedicate this very moment to my father, for i've finally done it. I am sure where ever he is right now, he would have been really proud of me. I nearly broke into tears but i just controlled myself really well. And as i went up, there were people cheering. Jia Ning was shouting, so were a few of my other friends and my cell group members too. I was so embarrassed i didn't know where to hide my face.
And the most shocking thing was...the chancellor actually remembered my name. He congratulated me and called me by my name. Wow.

Well, there is a video on my graduation and it is only available for downloading next year so once i get it, i will upload it. No worries.

Natasha and I. You wouldn't believe it but i have known this girl since she was 9 and i was 12. And we just met again after so many years through Hong. We are great friends now.

I have to say....my own family wasn't here to witness this rather significant day but these people were. And they are my family here in Melbourne. They've been a great friends, brothers and sisters and companion to me. I really want to thank all of them for actually taking the time and effort to be there for my graduation. Of course we had dinner after that. Without them, i don't think my graduation would have been any fun at all. They were there to support me and give me encouragement. This year has been a year of many ups and downs but nevertheless, they were always by my side. I really want to express my deepest gratitude to them especially Ee ee, Hermin, Tince, Nith and Geary.

Even to Jia Ning and Jun Fei. The last 3 months of my stay here has been great. Meng Jiunn has been an angel too...allowing me to use his room to put my things and use his internet connection. And the Johnny and Ash, you guys have been great too. I am sorry i never had the chance to know you guys better or spend more time but i will never forget what you guys have done for me. Thank you.

Mel, Kamil, Fiona's class wouldn't have been that much fun without the two of you. Hahaha...

A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL....i will miss you guys and i will miss Melbourne very much...

Grampians Part 5

The last and final stop was the McKenzie's Fall. We actually have to walk down the stairs all the way down to see the waterfall. There is a mini one on our way down but it's quite far walk down for the waterfall. So to come back up is the big problem. Thank God my mother didn't follow me on this trip or not i can hear her screaming into my ears. She'll be complaining. Trust me...the walk down is worth the effort. Really. The view is breathtaking. I can just sit there and enjoy the sound of the waterfall and the fresh water and nature scent. Of course the crazy us will be taking tonnes of pictures...as usual.
Nevertheless....it is really beautiful....

Grampians again...this is another stop called the Jaws of Death. Another place to enjoy the great, beautiful sight but we have to walk about a km far to get to the destination and it is some hilly walk indeed. On the way there, you will see burnt trees, rocks, flowers....oh you know, nature. But quite a depressing sight indeed.

The next stop was the city of Ballarat. I don't recall how this city got its name. Haha. But quite a town indeed. Quite colonial and the houses are really small.

Grampians Part 1

Grampians...One of Melbourne's greatest tourist spot. If one does not enjoy beautiful sceneries or loves nature, then don't waste money to visit this place. As for my mother, she will not like this tour cos there are a lot of walking and climbing to do. Nevertheless, i enjoyed myself tremendously. It is not just merely the beautiful sights of Victoria that i enjoy but the company i was with. I went on this tour with two of my greatest friends, Jun Fei and Jia Ning. You will get to see them in the later blogs. I guess it is always more fun going sightseeing with your friends.
I am not implying that going for tours with my mom is boring or NOT fun but she tend to complain a lot and i am more adventurous. She's not. No hard feelings, Mom. Like she always say, i am much younger and still full of energy to run about. She's twice my age and i should give her a break. Haha.

Anyway, enough of babbling about my mother. Hereby are some pictures of the kangaroos in one of the nature park that we stopped on our way to the grampians.

Fitzroy Gardens

One fine day, we decided to visit the Fitzroy Gardens and we were attacked by a swamp of FLIES. They are darn irritating. And the weather was rather warm. I was practically sweating like a pig but i have to say, it really was like Spring, with all the flowers blooming and children running around, enjoying the fresh air, the greens. It was rather mesmerizing.
Jia ning's friend, Wayne visited from somewhere (don't recall where). Incidentally, he's also from Penang. Quite a amusing young fella too.

This little boy was so cute. He was running around on his own, being observed closely by the father from afar. He was really enjoying his day out in the sun indeed.

Reminds me of Chinese New Year. So flourishingly RED. Mom, your favourite colour.

All these beautiful pictures below were taken in the Conservatory in the Fitzroy Gardens. It was breathtaking. I refused to leave that place. It's just so beautiful, the flowers, the scent, the coolness, everything about the place.

Oh yes. This little dog was owned by this ol' lady and he was just so adorable that Jia Ning and i couldn't help ourselves but to take a shot or two of him. Suprisingly, he was such an obedient dog and just sat upstraight for us to take some shots.

Then we went on our journey and went to the Cook's Cottage. Somehow i just find cottages really adorable and cozy. And i have wanted to visit the Cook's Cottage for ages now and finally....i was there.

Now this was a house just around the Fitzroy Gardens and when i first had my eyes laid on that house, all i could think about was "Alice in The Wonderland."

As usual, i was being silly. I actually struggled my way through to the middle of the whole patch of flowers and took this few shots.

I don't recall what this area i called but all these houses are really small. Miniature. They are all so adorable and rather interesting. Too bad they are all fenced up and we are not allowed to go in to take a closer view. Nevertheless, we still manage to capture some pictures.

Then, as we were heading our of the gardens, we saw this wedding ceremony. I don't know if we were considered crashing that wedding but we did take some illegal photos and the bestman was giving me this really scary glare that i just had to get out of there immediately. I should have take a shot of his glare but believe me. He was a scary man.

After my final presentation, Jun Fei (housemate) suggested that we go to up to the skydeck building for the beautiful view of Melbourne. I was very reluctant as i have been to the Melbourne Observation Deck before. But it is the glass cube architecture that made me wanna go. In the end, we did go.

The glass cube i was talking about. You actually have to pay extra $10 to get in there for like a few minutes. And there is a limitation of people allowed at a time. I did do in after all but no cameras were allowed. And we have to put on this thing like shower cap on our shoes to not spoil or scratch the glass. Then again i thought, what kinda cheap and non-durable glass is that? But it was kind of scary standing on glass and so high up. It was cool though.

This Pixar Exhibition was on for quite a long period of time but as usual, i only went there on the last day. My friends all went earlier when i was in Sydney. Ok...i was rushing for my finals early Nov and Jia ning has finished all her presentations and done with all her submissions. She is TOO free and was just playing with my camera and she took this shot of Jun Fei....Brushing his teeth. Hahahaha....

Since i am free for now, let's update more all the happenings in this second half of the year...In oct, it was Jaslyn's birthday and we went to this Korean Restaurant called "Oriental Spoon" to have dinner and i must say, the food is quite nice. We had the bbq, the sweet and spicy chicken, the something with soup...no idea what...but it was good. We bought her a green tea cake cos there were no other nicer cakes left. It doesn't look appetizing but the cake was really good.

Try to notice the park in the middle there with a lake? That's Albert Park. They have the Grand Prix Formula One there.

These are some pics taken from the Rialto tower in Melbourne. I went with my mother back in September and it was nothing extraordinary. It reminds me of the Komtar tower in Penang. So just embrace the pictures....to the wonderful sight of Melbourne.

APSDA

This is really outdated. This was a student workshop i attended at the end of last year with a few of my uni-mates and classmates. This is an international workshop for interior design students. There are students coming from Korea, Indonesia, Philippines, all the other colleges and universities in Malaysia. I don't quite remember what APSDA stands for but it was organized by the University Islam Antarabangsa students. It was quite an experience as we have great designers coming from Holland and other countries to conduct the workshop.

I bet you cant find me...

We are all from Lim Kok Wing and each college is suppose to come out with a performance on the final night. We did some really erm...abstract kinda thingy and i reckon nobody actually understood what we did. FYI, i am the second person.

This is actually quite interesting. One of the facilitator actually designed this. It is just a special custom made paper bad and the idea is to put some sand inside, light a candle and drop it on the sand. Then placing them in a spiral and this is the outcome. Of course you have to see it from the top then it looks rather beautiful indeed. If i am not wrong, this paper will not burn.

These pictures are all taken by Jia Ning and i only got them like a month ago. This is a winter camp organized by the Multicultural Student Fellowship. It was held end of August near Mount Buller.

OK....my group won the so called "Hollywood race" in this winter camp. It is something like Amazing Race. Don't ask me how we won but we just did.

Okay...this video is taken by Jia Ning and my group were suppose to present our group's theme. The theme of the whole camp is "We are Loved, We are Capable." This camp is supposed to be a winter camp but they do preach about Christianity. Nevertheless, it was fun and all that were taught in this camp are all good. Met a lot of new people of course. My group's name is Stitch, by the way. Given by the committee. Ben said that my voice is the loudest in this video but well, i was the one who came up with the cheer so i know it better than the rest of the group members and i have to admit i was a little bit too hyper then. Hahaha....Did Jia Ning take this pic to have a good laugh at me??? Hmmm.....=)

It is end of the year yet again. I can't believe that I am actually graduating in a few weeks time. I am suppose to be jumping with joy that it is finally over but i am not. The thought of working is frightening. The idea of being an adult itself is scary. Commitments, responsibilities, politics, bla bla bla....

My results are coming out this Saturday and i really hope this time around i am going to ace them. This semester has been quite a big leap for me indeed. But the next question is where do i go from here.

I am trying to keep my options open. I want to go where the wind blows. The world is an adventure. I don't know if this is crazy but i don't want to just settle down in Malaysia. Not that i hate my country that much but i just want to explore. I want to be out there. Is it possible?

Here i am wondering about my future, about my career, about the next step. And instead of facing it, i reckon i am trying to run away from it. There is this book my friend, Ming recommended, "Designers are wankers." It is not what you think. I have not finished reading this book but this book is rather interesting. It talks about us the next step for us graduates and students. Where our future lies and where to go or what to do as we step out from the college and uni life.

"Who you are is what you do." Finding your own style and developing it over time may prove to be your greatest asset.

This statement itself is so true. When i first started interior design course, it was just pure passion for interior. But as i indulge myself further into the design world and the design philosophy, there is so much to design. Design is everywhere, in our everyday life. Everything we see, we use, we do is design. So are designers really wankers?

Anyhow, i know it has been some time since i update my blog and i owe everyone some pictures. Hang in here...

Back on track???

I have like so many freaking models to build and still trying to build more and more to please my lecturer. So far, i have built like 8 models and there are more to build. I have never in my life built so many models in one semester before. And i have to say her expectations are really high. She wants good models even for something as simple as a study or concept model.

Of course i have cut my hand several times and have like plasters stuck here and there but nothing serious.

I still have heaps of work to catch up on but i still trying to get back on track but i reckon if i sleep less and try to focus more it'll all turn out fine. Like what Ben says, only more than a month more to persevere and the outcome will be beautiful and fruitful. There will be fruit flies everywhere then.

There has been some screaming and shouting and tantrums thrown here and there in this household as my hostbrother, Rupert, has decided to switch course yet again after doing Chemical engineering for 4 freaking years. He has one more year to go but he reckons his interest lies in Architecture and not engineering. The mother is freaking out and trying really hard to convince him to finish engineering then he can go running into architecture all he wants but just to complete the bachelor for engineering first. So there has been some Hoo-haa in the house. As usual i m the middle person and i have to listen to everyone's complains.

Oh well, he has to figure it out on his own i guess. I have not much to update this time around as i just got back from a tiring day. I have like lecture early in the morning and have a 6 hour break before my next class and i only got home like at 8pm. So i m not tired physically but mentally. I waited like almost 2 hours for my turn in class today for tutorial. Crazy day...

The Rocks

This place is so colonial....practically all shops, buildings are built with stones or rocks. The name speaks for all. I was lucky to get there on a Sunday as they have this craft market open only during the weekends.

It was Sunday and i was suppose to go for the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb but my dear Andrew was too lazy to spend so many hours up there. Therefore, he took me to The Rocks and Bondi Beach. I had a great time with him though. The Rocks is an interesting place. Felt like i was in another country...perhaps in Venice or something....

Bondi Beach was a little disappointing though. I was expecting a little more after being to Manly. I didn't take any pics at the Bondi Beach. Haha..too disappointed i reckon. Anyway, when i reached Bondi, i was like "Is that it?" And Andrew was like...ok...now he feels even worse for not going to the climb with me. He was apologizing and trying to make it up to me for not going for the climb but i was trying to convince him that it was alright as i can do it alone the next day. No biggies about it. I wasn't trying to make him feel bad in any way but he felt it.

It wasn't that bad once we got off the bus and walked along the beach. We wanted to have dinner there before returning but mom was alone. So we decided to go back and feeling bad, Andrew planned to give mom and i a treat to a good restaurant. He was trying to think of a good place to bring us to make it up to me. Again and again, i keep telling him that it is ok....

Oh well, somebody wants to give me a treat...i shouldn't be complaining right???

In the end, we had dinner with my granduncle and grandaunt, uncle and my neighbour's sister. Neighbour back in my Penang house. The sister stays here and that was the first time meeting her and she was so nice to bring all of us out to dinner.

Anyway, quite a day for us and again....thank you Andrew for being the tour guide and taking the time to entertain me...and not forgetting trying to make it up to me...hahahaha...hilarious...

I didn't take any pics of myself as there were nobody to take good pictures....Except myself of course so i ended up taking pics of everyone and everything but myself. Not bad a pic taken by Andrew but mom closed her eyes. Damn....She sat there the whole time i explored the opera house. She was too lazy to move an inch so the pic is a bit odd. Manly, Sydney

It was Saturday, the 15th of September. My sis was telling how great Manly's seafood is and insist that i should go.

And so we did. It was an outing with mom, Andrew, Granduncle and myself. We took the ferry to Manly and i took some pics on the way there. I was practically out in the sun enjoying the view and sights of Sydney while mom, Andrew and granduncle just hid themselves inside the ferry. Sad.

Then we got to Manly and my GREAT granduncle fell asleep. We couldn't find him in the ferry so thought he had actually gone out. Searched high and low outside and still no sight of him. Apparently he fell asleep in the ferry and nobody woke him up. I called him like more than 20times and no answer. How great that was. Finally he woke up and called Andrew. He's now on the way back to Sydney and coming back again. That'll take him like at least an hour.

Mom and Andrew were hungry so we ended up walking around Manly looking for good seafood. Finally settled for one and ordered take away. Had our SUPERB lunch at the beach and then had a little stroll along the beach....The 3 of us had a good chat and finally my granduncle arrived. Then it was his turn to have lunch while the 3 of us just sat there listening to him blabbering....

Afterwards, we walked a bit more and decided to head back to the city. Andrew had to get some cakes for his outing that night before all the shops close.

That night, we all had home cooked food. My grandaunt cooked dinner. Simple dishes but it's home cooked food. Always the best.
After dinner, we watched the Iron Chef and everybody went to bed early. I was dead tired....and so were everyone.

Back to Melbourne

I am back in Melbourne and couldn't feel more lonely. After having my mom here for 2 weeks and then to Sydney for almost a week, being back here feels so lonely and quiet. I am starting to feel homesick again. Today is my chinese birthday - 8th of the 8th month on the lunar calendar. Nice date huh? All the eights...

Newayz, i miss my mom, i miss dar, i miss yu myn....i miss home. I so want to move out and be with someone and not myself. I was telling Ben that i have not actually been on my own before without a relative or family around. I was in UTAR staying with my cousin bro. Then to LUCT, putting up at my sis's place. Therefore, this is pretty much my first time being on my own. Ben reckons i am spoilt. Oh well, i am not denying it but being so far away from everyone makes me feel so homesick.

I can't believe my birthday is over, Sydney is over, it's back to the reality world again. Dreadful.

A lot of people asked me what i think about Sydney compared to Melbourne. And some said if you like Sydney, you'll hate Melbourne and vice versa.

Honestly, my first impression about Sydney wasn't that good. The roads are so much narrower, more confusing, life is more hectic and definitely not as homely as Melbourne. The city is very hilly...up and down, up and down. Reminds me a lot of the Princess Diaries movie - first one. Nevertheless, i am starting to actually like Sydney. It's a lot like KL but transportation in Sydney is so much better. More expensive than Melbourne though.

Sydney is actually very beautiful and it's a pity i didn't get to spend more time in Sydney for there is much more to explore and see. So much more to discover.

Melbourne has a lot more parks than Sydney, the town planning is much more organized and orderly compared to Sydney. Somehow Sydney is more er....natural....not planned. More spontaneous but can be very confusing. I have never thought of Australia to be a beautiful place but now, i have to take back my words. Spending it with some relatives definitely made it even more beautiful than ever.

Any fav place? Er...not really. I was most of the time in the city or somewhere near the city. I definitely do not know how the suburbs are like so no comments on that. I am sure it's not that bad either. I will definitely go back to Sydney again if i have the chance end of the year. This time...hopefully with my family again and Ben...

Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb

What can i say about this climb? It was the best adventure i have ever experienced in my life. It was worth every penny, every minute, every second, every effort and every moment. I have to admit i was a little nervous at the beginning and excited at the same time. I opted for the Twilight climb where we will witness the wonderful sight of sunset.

We were first led into this room where we have to take an alcohol breath test...then fill up this form bla bla bla...

Then proceed to the next zone where we have to start introducing ourselves...there were 3 koreans, parents and daughter....4 Scottish...the parents, daughter and the bf....one girl from UK, Polly and a german couple...And of course me...all international climbers...

We were then given our first layer of outfit and an extra pants in case it rains...Then we were taught to put on all the gears including beanies, gloves, hanky....raincoat, fleece jacket...torch....radio, headset....etc....on this belt...and after having everything, the belt was freaking heavy....I was wondering how on earth we're gonna climb with all these extra weight...

Then we had a little practice on some steps....then we set up the radio channels and we were right....We were led by two pro climbers, Shane and Ed.

We walked thru some structures first....then finally came to the pylon steps and there we go.....slowly climbing up....and thru out the whole journey, the stairs were the scariest part but still alright. We then went all the way up to the bridge and off we start....

When i was up there, i didn't feel scared of i was 134m above sea level. The climb was easy, the steps were low...i mean the rise of the steps...it was very safe. It was very windy thru out the whole climb. It wasn't tiring at all. For those who are afraid of heights, believe me...you wont feel a thing when u're up there. It was just breathtaking...you will forget about everything and just enjoy the view. The sunset was really beautiful. I have never seen such a sight before. The horizon, the blue mountains, the opera house, SYDNEY....It was just indescribable....

Soon, we reached the summit and there were 4 photo stops in total. We took a group pic at the summit. It was really nice and fun...by the time we were coming down, it was getting dark and it rained. So we put on our raincoats and switched on our lights. Like some miners or something. hahaha....

Then finally it was over. I would really encourage everyone to go there if they were to visit Sydney. It's really beautiful....

Phillip Island

Now, back to Melbourne with my mom. Phillip Island was the second tour that i took my mom during her visit to Melbourne. We went to some wildlife park and mom hate it with a passion. She just finds all these farms animals filthy. I was enjoying myself but it's the total opposite for her.
Oh yeah, she got sick during her visit to Melbourne due to the weather change i reckon. She said it was really cold but honestly, it wasn't as bad as the mid of winter. Therefore, she's a little snappy and moody....
Of course this is my first time being up close and personal with the kangaroos. I was rather excited. I practically ran to them. Haha.

Hmmm....i don't recall when this was but i went to Mount Buller with some friends to ski. It was rather fun to ski but i knocked into the tree 3 times...And of course i fell like a million times.
Nevertheless, skiing wont be as fun without having to fall down a MILLION times....

Came back with bruises and muscles ache. All in all, worth the effort and time...

Sydney...will be one visit i will rmbr for a long long time....

I flew to Sydney on my birthday....early morning, 6.15am flight with mom. Was kinda excited till i could hardly sleep. Slept for like about an hour plus and then had to get up to get ready. I have to say i was kinda moody then. Not a morning person i guess and the lack of sleep certainly ain't helping at all.

Was a little agitated till i reached Sydney.

Once arrived, mom's fren picked us up from the airport and went straight back to Uncle Ban's place. Settled down and off we go to the city for Yum Cha. Apparently i have the same birthday as Uncle Ban. So double celebration again. The Yum Cha is good...so much better than the ones in Melbourne.

Then went around the city...went to Darling Harbour...and then my granduncle insist he wants to go to the casino. So we all went. And again, i was stopped by the stupid security. Hai~!!! Then mom played the slot machines...and there was this one machine that is called "Pigs Can Fly." She purposely chose that machine to play cos it's the pig's birthday. Made me stand with her and press the buttons as well. She said the pig's birthday so should bring some luck. True enough, we won $25. Not too bad. Haha...the pig really flew....

After that, went for another dinner celebration, again paid by my uncle. We had dinner in chinatown. Food?? Not too bad...Dessert??? Superb...

Then head back home and on the way, met up with my cousin bro, Andrew. He just finished work and went home for a bath. So he didn't join us for dinner. Instead we tapao some food for him so all of us head home and he then ate the dinner.

Later, he brought me out for some supper and he is not full enough. Had some waffles and pancakes with ice-cream. Had a little chat or two....then went korean grocery shopping...and head back home.

That was pretty much what i did on my birthday. There wasn't anything wild but the idea of being in Sydney was just fantastic. And mom has paid for my flights, my trips to Great Ocean Road and Phillip Island in Victoria. I just cant ask for more. I told her that my best gift is just having her around here with me on my birthday or i would have felt really lonely.

What more could i ask for???

Birthday Celebration

Well, as most of you know, my mom is here to visit and she insist that we have a dinner with my hostfamily before she returns to sydney. And since it is Rupert's birthday on the 16th, we sort of had a double birthday celebration.

Nothing big and fancy. Just a proper dining at one of the Chinese restaurant in Toorak Village - Tooraking.

The waitresses suck big time. They can hardly understand English. Rather disappointed.

But nevertheless, the dinner was good. Paul and Janet is a little tipsy from the white wine they had. And we took a number of pictures....

My sister has been bugging me about taking a pic of my hostfamily...so this time i have officially fulfilled her dream. Hahahaa....My hostmother, Janet is very pretty and there is this picture of her in the living room where she looks so much like Princess Diana. Even my mom reckons she is beautiful.

Yes...I am aware that it has been ages since i last posted something. I just didn't know there are actually people interested in reading my blog. Apologies to all for that.

So much things to update but i honestly have no time for that quite yet. I have pics to upload as well but not quite yet. I just got back from a Winter Camp and had a really good time there. I am dead tired - as usual.

I am in my final semester now. Can't believe it myself. I am actually graduating end of this year. How time flies. I can't wait for it to come.

Oh yes, mom's arriving Sydney today, coming to see me either on the 2nd or 3rd of sept. And i will be going in to Sydney with her on the eve of my birthday. So birthday in Sydney this time. Hopefully it's a good one.

Erm...what else do i have in mind???

Brain's not working as efficient after not blogging for ages. I do have tonnes to update but i am trying to just update what happened lately.

Oh well, just hang in there, be a little more patience with me and i promise more updates and pictures on the way.

Okay. I only had like 13 hours of sleep last week from Monday to Saturday cos i need to have my work done. But i did put back in all the sleep on saturday night. I slept right after dinner which is about 8pm till the next day 11.15am. Quite a bit of sleep don't you reckon?
Then again on Sunday i had to continue with my work again. I have hung up my presentation board for Exhibition Design and the presentation is tomorrow. Quite nervous actually. The external examiner is a lady and she is quite a pain. Wow. But the good news is, Ben is coming to visit me on Thursday night itself. I have to meet him when he arrives at night.
On friday, i have another presentation on my business plan but this time it is a group work. I am doing quite well with that subject. The lecturer is really nice and he is trying to make it possible for us to get a HD for it. (High Distinction). He said why settle for a D(Distinction) when we can get a HD. Pray hard.
Somehow i feel my design ain't that good enough but HOng keep insisting that my Exhibition is so nice and structural. But i have to say, my rendering ain't that good. The thing is, i can't understand people sometimes. This is my first time with 3d max and i am not doing such a terrific job with it as i have not really explored everything. I asked Hong for his help and somehow it didn't turn out that nice. It's as if he doens't really want to help or maybe he's scared other's will turn out nicer than his. With my first 3d assignment, i have feedbacks from friends saying that it is not bright enough. It is not that nice. But he said it's good enough. Bright enough. On the other hand, he helped others and their work is like so much nicer. I just can't understand. The wonderful thing is, i need his help cos i am really not good in 3D and i am just learning. He has some experince in it.
Right now, i am doing another 3d animation work. I feel it's not so nice also. He keep saying nice. Somehow he helped others like so much nicer than mine. Maybe i am being too sensitive or being too negative about my work. I have no idea. But honestly, his rendering is nice but mine really sucks. and he complains to me that he's scared of his presentation cos his concept is not strong. But i told him is work is really nice. Then he said only the rendering is nice but the concept is not strong. Then i was like WHAT? meaning my rendering is not nice but my my concept is strong.
Honestly, when he helps me, he doesn't care about how it really looks. And keep telling me not to do this and that cos going to render very long, then say the lighting enough lar. This and That. But when he helped others, theirs is like SO NICE. The rendering i mean.
Well, like my mom always say, when you need people's help and when people help you, what more can you complain. When you want things done well, you have to do it yourself. Sad but it's true. I guess i really need to catch up on my 3D during the hols and learn some new programs as well. I wonder where i can learn and who can teach me. Anyone you guys know? or any tutorial books, website that i can learn? I plan to learn solidworks. Sounds easy and good to use.
Hai~!!! I don't know if i am being too kiasu that i think my work is not good enough or not the best. I guess i have been trying to be the best a little too much. Being the top in LUCT most of the time is killing me here. People here are so much more experience and they range from people younger than me to older than me.
I guess i am just not the type of person who just wants to pass like Hong. I really want to do well. I mean considering i am trying to get a scholarship to continue my studies. I am just trying to get at least all Distinctions and do better the next semester to qualify for the scholarship.
What do you guys think? Is Hong being a little bit selfish or am i being over sensitive over the matter?

This is just another interior shot i took to show the skylight. I just like skylight.

This is the rendering of the interior space but in the draft rendering. We are given the floorplan and we have to furnished one room. I break open the wall and make the room larger. Got this idea from my homestay. Anyway, give some feedbacks.

I am suppose to render the wine glass in my interior space. This is the only high quality rendering. Everything in there is modeled in 3D by myself. I am quite happy with my first time 3D Max work. Of course Hong helped me quite a bit, telling me what light to use, how to make the glass, the reflection etc. Thanks man.

3D Modeling

I have not stayed up the whole night without sleeping for a long time. I really don't recall staying up the entire night in Semester 6 as well but i think i did. Haha. I stayed up the whole night last night to render my 3D projects. I will post it up here. I did high mental ray rendering on high quality and it took me like 3 hours just to render one scene. I dare not sleep in case my com hangs or something happen. I stayed awake and i have so many things to render.

Finally, everybody did Mental Ray draft rendering so i did that as well. We have to model every object and put it in an interior, and do a small animation. My animation a bit CACAT~! It is damn bloody slow to render animation and it was only like 4 seconds. I don't have Quicktime so i have to render the animation in the lab. I have to render 100 scenes and 1 scene takes like almost a minute. And it is only draft quality. WAHLAU~!!

PLs give some feedback ya? Or anyone can tell me where to improve would be PERFECT~!!!

My deepest apologies to all for not updating sooner. Had no connection at home and now it is BACK. I couldn't find time to blog without connection at home. I have to do research and check my mails in uni. NO time for other personal portfolios.

Neways, so much has happened that i do not know where to begin. But let's make it short and sweet. I went to Phillip Island, hoping to see penguins but didn't. Despite the disappoinment, it was a good experience for me. Made me grew stronger spiritually. Thank you to my family for the support.

This week is quite an easy week as 2 of my lecturers cancelled class due to personal reasons. I had things to do though. I went for a seminar on applying permanent residency and it was very helpful. Now i know what i need and what i have to work on.

I went to Kelvin's house again on Monday for a house warming kinda thing. He just moved to a new apartment. It is very nice. Two bedroom with en suite bathrooms. Very nice. Walk-in-wardrobe. Beautiful view from the balcony as well. He is staying with Jo and Jo's gf. Both of them from Kunmin, China. Very nice people, my age. Teng fetched Hong and I there. They can cook. The cooking was good. Spicy, salty, all chinese cooking. It was a feast. Later on Hong and I talked to Kelvin bout Lim Kok Wing, about life, about studies etc. Then we played Monopoly and cards. Jo's gf discovered this new game and we played. It was a lot of fun. Took a few pics but it is in Hong's camera. Will get it from him asap.

The next day, i watched Casablanca with Paul. Nobody is free to accompany him. Considering i do not have class on Wednesday, i sat down and watched with him. He loves that movie very much and he adores Audrey Hepburn. The last time i watched Sabrina with him. This time Casablanca. The next one is Breakfast at Tiffany's. Casablanca is a Black and White movie. It was so boring i nearly fell asleep. It was during the war period and i hate movies like that. And the girl didn't even end up with the guy. Hai~! But it was a good break and a good to spend some time with my hostfamily. He is happy i watched with him and he thanked me after the movie. They are still ever nice to me.

And i watched Spiderman 3 with my MSF friends. (Multicultural Student Fellowship). It was really dramatic but rather touching towards the end.

Today, they have a meet and dine event in Pauline's house. Pauline is also my classmate in uni. It was good. I met new friends and they are all very nice people.

Tomorrow there is BLAST, it's the MSF event every saturday and the topic for tomorrow is Love VS Lust. Interesting topic. I will be attending.

I have more pics to share but i don't have them at the moment. It is in Hong's camera. Haha.

I guess that is all i have to say for now. Cant think of anything more for now. Will catch you guys again soon.

Missing HOME

Janet had lots of birthday presents today, unfortunately the son doesn't remember her birthday. She was quite sad actually. We all, Paul and Janet, Lily and bf, Rupert and gf and I went for a vietnamese dinner in some Victoria Street. A lot of people there. Though the food was not something different or extraordinary but it is just the same. I still think Chinese food is so much better. I miss spicy food.
I can't order spicy food last night cos none of them can eat spicy. Everyone ordered a dish and we share around and ate with rice. I ordered Sweet and Sour batter pork.

Chie, the one we had in DHL or the fat boy one is SO MUCH better. Even Maju Jaya is so much better. I have to admit it. I am missing DHL so much and the Nyonya corner. I miss Bak Kut Teh. I WANT TO GO HOME~!!! I miss soup. *sob sob*

Now i can understand why a lot of people choose to go home after completing their studies. I dont' speak for all cos i know of quite a number of people that prefer here than Malaysia. But it is not easy being so far away from home, missing all the good food, not being able to be with the family, no friends. I can now understand what it is like. I can see why Shieh Ling (cousin sister) was feeling so miserable here. Honestly, i am starting to understand how she feels.

When i was in the restaurant having dinner with my hostfamily and their partners, everybody had someone by their side. I felt so lonely and so left out. I miss my family. I miss my little niece. With her around, no matter how bad ur day, she can just brighten up ur day. She just needs to call me "Ee Ee." and use her little hand to grab my fingers and my heart will melt away. Looking at her, so fresh and young, so innocent and happy, so adorable. All stress, all tension, all worries are gone. I am sure my sister feels the same way and i think the daughter has a bigger impact on her than me.

I am here now, broadcasting to everyone, if ever any of you have the chance to come, PLEASE come visit me. Drop a line, email me, msg me, anything. I am really missing home.

Laundry

Finally i have done my laundry. All clothes - CLEAN. Rubbish, thrown out.

Class was cancelled today. Lecturer had a family emergency. The father has cancer and is very sick.

Today is Janet's birthday. I bought her a book as she is very fond of reading. Hopefully she'll like it. It's a book by Danielle Steel - Sisters. It seems interesting. I wanted the book for my own actually but i can borrow from her. She has borrowed me a book already - Sense and Sensibility. I tried looking for another book of Steel's but they don't have it - Johnny Angel. It is a very good book - touch hearts and shed tears.

Anyways, I have done some studying on Business thingy and now i have some 3D to do. I have to figure out what i want to do for my final project. A short animation. Any ideas, people?

Han Hong and some friends plan to go Phillip Island for 2 days next weekend. I am considering of going or not. As much as i want to see the Penguins but there are 2 things to consider - workload and finance. Hmmm.....

Apologies for not updating. Got carried away with some other portfolios.

Okay. Where do i start? First of all, Happy Birthday Vinny. Sorry i didn't wish you earlier but hey, i remembered. Happy belated bithday to my BIL. Sent you a card so don't complain. Haha. Let me wish Angel happy birthday in advance as well. Have a blast babe.

Wow. Seems like ages and too much to say. I really do not know where to start.

Hmm...back to busy life in Uni. It is coming towards the second half of the semester and all final projects are starting to kick in. GOing to be a rather hectic 7 weeks. Been building models, doing presentation boards and presenting my work.

Got a little break today. Attended Mei Sze's graduation. CONGRATS, Babe~!!! You were rocking the Melbourne Convention Centre. It was a great graduation and makes me want to graduate faster. There were quite a number of students with PHD's and makes me want to do that as well. Imagine having people calling you Doctor.

Imagine this: Dr. Thoong Soo Yee. The first doctor in the Thoong/Thong family. Intriguing.

I should start growing money tree. *laughs*

This week has been quite rough. It makes me wonder again if i am actually in the right path, doing design. I just can't find or see myself being all creative and innovative. As i have mentioned before to many, if you give me a blank piece of paper, i can't just think of something and sketch it out. I have to refer mags, books for ideas and from there, brainstorm. Even then sometimes i feel my design is so simple. Just like the way i am.
I had a design presentation on last Tues. The lecturer was quite intrigue with my design and how i execute my idea and concept but it was just a plain simple design. I reckon any Tom, Dick or Harry can think of such idea.

For a moment there, i am lost. I love what i am doing. I enjoy what i am doing but is this Interior Design for me?

There is a comment from Teng, a thai friend saying that i dress all so grown up. And i was like, WHAT? I am almost 24. Am i suppose to dress like a little girl? Or short, skimpy skirts? So not me. Then he was shocked that i am so OLD. Yeah, everyone is.

I have been pondering. Am i trying to score and get distinctions or am i trying please my father? Am i really enjoying my course or am i too busy thinking of being the best? Am i trying to be somebody i am not?

Should i be happy?

Anyways, let me tell you about this awesome dish Janet cooked on Tuesday night. I think it is the BEST meal ever since my arrival here. She cooked this lamb dish from Kylie Kwong's recipe book. Some moroccan style lamb. She was suppose to bake it for about 1 hour and 45 minutes but that is way too long. So she decided to start a small fire outside in the garden and cook it. It will only take half the time.

Paul was furious about it cos he said open burning is illegal and tried to talk Janet out of it but to no avail. Janet has prepared everything since afternoon. She went on with it of course. As usual, nobody bothers about what she does, as long as they have food in their tummy.

I helped Janet prepare the lamb and the gravy. A lot of spices were added in this dish. The aroma itself is enough to make me hungry and drool. After preparing the dish, we took it out. We had a glass of wine, with some chips and sat on the chair in the garden and had a good chat. We enjoyed the weather and the night breeze. It wasn't so cold that night and there were clusters of stars. It was indeed a beautiful night. I was hungry of course.

After almost an hour, it was done. Went inside and ate it. The lamb was so tender and the sauce was just SUPERB. It was really good. I enjoyed that meal very much. Rupert, who had his dinner outside, tried a little. For the first time, he said that the meal was good and had more of it. The gravy was the best. We had bread with the gravy too.

After a good meal, Janet decided to take a break and only had spaghetti the next day for dinner. And everytime she makes that, it is never salty enough. I don't know why. I think she never added salt at all. But it was okay.

Today, she made Jamie Oliver vegetable curry and it was not something i'll want to remember. It is not salty, it is so coconutty and it's just not right. I am hardly full. The only thing i enjoyed was the papadum. Haha.

Enough of food already. I manage to finish my the draft of my business plan yesterday. I went to the library today to return the books and scan some pages. I wanted to borrow more but i still have a number of books at home. Don't want to carry too many. I did look for Pride and Prejudice. It wasn't the version i wanted. I could only get the Level 4 version but good enough. I just want to read the story and see how it varies from the movie.

I got my nose stucked to it and finished the entire book even before dinner. I couldn't put it down. And i told Janet about it and she dug up another Jane Austen book, Sense and Sensibility for me. I am not going to start now. I may not get enough sleep tonight if i do. Haha.

Oh well, it has been hot for the past few days but today was a little cooler.

Early to bed tonight. Early day tomorrow.

Malaysian food

Hmm... I woke up late today. At about 10:15am and just remembered i need to get some fruits for Aunty Jenny and Uncle Peter. I actually wanted to buy then berries, just like the ones i had but safeway was CLOSED!!!

So i ended up buying chocolates instead. It's Easter anyway. And i saw Janet pack a box of choc for me cos it's Easter. I had to buy one back for her as well and let me tell you this. The chocs here are not cheap. They cost me a bomb. But no choice. I actually bought truffles and i seriously have no idea what truffles are nor do i know the difference. This incident really reminds me a lot of the movie Meet Joe Black. The eldest daughter was organising the party of the century for the father's birthday and she has to meet these cooks. One of them hate truffles, the other doesn't even know what truffles are. Haha. I fit in that category.
Yes they look different but what are the difference?

Anyway, that shop is famous for their truffles so what the heck.

I came back at about 11.30am and rushed like hell to get ready before Peter and Jenny come to pick me up. Well, my mom asked me to look good and be good. So i decided to wear this white dress i bought here for $10. And Janet thought it was very pretty and sweet. I was trying to give a good impression.

Peter and Jenny really came at 12pm sharp as they promised. They're very nice people. They came into the garden and wanted to meet Paul and Janet but they were too busy in the kitchen. Peter and Jenny thought they will come out to meet them and see who are actually bringing me out for lunch. But they didn't. Janet was busy preparing for the Easter Lunch they're having at a friend's place.

Peter drives a Mazda 6. Grey colour. Just like the one Perng had. The stay at Vermont South, which is a few suburbs away. Quite far. It is bouat 30mins on a Sunday drive. One straight road but it is a LONG road. If i were to take public transport it can take me up to 2 hours to reach. SO imagine the distance.

They talked to me and Jenny started to ask me if i know this lady Thoong Lay Chooi. I was like "WHAT?" That is my aunty in Subang, KL. My father's youngest sister. It seems that Peter is from Penang Free School and he know Uncle Hoy Yuen. My aunty's husband. So they met up with my aunty and they know each other. They even know my cousin sister, Shieh Ling. They met up last year in KL too. What a small world. Jenny saw my mom's name when Aunty Goo See forwarded mails to her. Aunty Goo See is Peter's sister and my mom's friend. She also saw the same name, Goh Sai Hong in the mails forwarded by my aunty. And with the same surname, rare surname, she had a hunch we're connected. So she asked. True enough, we are relatives.

I reached their house. It looks really nice, clean, cozy and quite big. They have a dog in the house, i m not sure what breed but it's the same as Lassie. The dog's name is Barney from the Flintstones. They thought that the dog looks like Barney. The dog is really cute and very friendly. I met up with all the children. Nick is the eldest, Sara the second and Becca the third. They're all working now. Becca is one year younger than me and Sara is my bro's age. I also met Sara's fiance, also Peter and Sam, Becca's bf. They're both OZs. Peter is actually very friendly and he is the one joking most of the time.

Peter and Jenny graduated from Swinburne as well. So did Sara. But all of them were in the Hawthorn campus. Small world.

They asked about me, what school i went to, my friends, my family, how my mom got to know Aunty Goo See. We talked about a lot of things.

I went to their house first, sat a while, talked then we went for Yum Cha. The dimsum was quite good. It wasn't that bad. After lunch, went back and talked again. Jenny started to cook but cos i was wearing white, she didn't allow me to help. She cooked curry chicken. She is so scared i'll get my dress dirty. They have a piano at home, so i asked who play. Sara learnt til Grade 4 then quit. Becca played a little. Then she asked if i do play. I said yes. She wanted me to play and entertain her but i have not played for so long and i can't remember that many songs. So was too shy to play. Hahahaha.

Jenny cooked chicken curry and Popiah. My fav. So dinner is popiah and curry chicken with roti canai. She even make Pulut Tai Tai. And Kaya. She is quite a good cook. She asked me what food i miss. I told her Laksa and she actually said she'll cook it for me the next time.

She finished her cooking early, so we sat down and watch movie. We watched the Banquet. It was quite a good movie but i had no idea who killed her in the end. We're both in suspense. I really like the song too. So did Peter. He didn't watch it with us but he heard the song and thinks it is a nice song.

Anybody has the song? Send it to me.

Dinner time. The popiah was good. The curry chicken was good too. I just miss Malaysian food and most of all....CHILLY~!!! Then she made some Japanese jelly called Konnyaku. It was very nice too. Dessert was Konnyaku, Apples, and Pulut Tai Tai. The Pulut is a bit soft but i like it that way. It was really good. I enjoyed dinner very much and she gave me 3 piece of popiah to take home. My lunch and breakfast tomorrow. Eat and Tapao back. How nice are they?

She even showed me the Konnyaku packing cos i love it so much. I must go find and make. Haha. They're really nice.

After dinner, we sat and talked talked talked. Pete, Sara's bf, was joking and telling us stories. He is taking up training and lessons to be an instructor in Kung Fu and Kick Boxing. He goes to Bangkok for training and other places too. He was telling us about his experience in Bangkok. He has been to Thailand a couple of times and he can speak quite good Thai. He was just telling us some of the terms he learnt and what happened there.

He was wearing this shirt with these words, " Faghedda bout it." Peter said it was from a movie. Anyway, when i say Pete, it's Sara's bf. That is what they call him. And Peter is actually the father and Jenny's husband.

Later, they left and Becca was out the whole time. She came back to change then went out again. I had a small chat with Nick and then Peter and Jenny sent me home.

They are really nice. They told me to ring them up if i need anything. If i have anything to ask or any trouble, just give them a call. Jenny is actually from Ipoh and they met in Swinburne. They have been staying in Melbourne for 37 years. Long time, huh?

Summary: I enjoyed both lunch and dinner, i enjoyed meeting them and i had a great day.

I hope everyone had a great Easter Sunday too.

An australian actually won an oscar award for some animation work. I don't remember his name nor the award he won but it was actually exhibited in ACMI, Federation Square. They have his profile printed and hung on the wall. What an honour. I think Malaysia will do that too if someone won the Oscar award. Hmmm....

Cathedral

I don't recall the name of this cathedral but it is located in CBD. I really like the architecture of it. I find all these old, ancient cathedral rather fascinating. I was hoping to find a high school or a university which has the old architecture with huge columns and massive facade. Disappointed.

The universities here look very modern and huge of course. I am liking it here in Melbourne. But i have not really found a place that i really love. I have not seen something i really like other than FASHION. hahaha. Even the residential area here are not very amusing. I like the chimney and the fire place but there is nothing extra ordinary. Nothing different. Maybe i have not seen enough of Melbourne quite yet to start judging.

Federation Square is really a piece of art. If you know the story behind it, you will come to appreciate the architecture more and more. I have to say this is the best piece of architecture in Melbourne. A landmark not to be missed.

Day After

Goodbye to Good Friday and Welcome Easter Sunday.

Last night was quite a night. We went to Kelvin's house for dinner and he made us steamboat. 2 kinds of soup - szechuan style and the plain one. It was good. I really enjoyed the steamboat. Had a lot of prawns. Haha. One of his friend brought Red wine. It was good. Dinner was fantastic.

Then as usual, looking for trouble, i asked to watch Exorcism of Emily Rose. We didn't manage to complete the whole movie but memories are flashing back. Kelvin blew his candles, made a wish, took pics (i didn't) and of course the eating. He is a fan of karaoke and has been doing that for all his birthdays. So he invited us all to karaoke in the city in this place K-Box. The reservation was made at 10pm.

Reached there, got a room, and Kelvin kept singing. NO....more like SHOUTING~!!! he sang his lungs out. Then the guys drank JD with coke or green tea. The "angel" of course only had green tea and ice lemon tea. They sang and played liar? Some chinese dies games we always watch in serials. The guys can really drink. They're crazy and they smoke like chimneys. It was suffocating. Honestly, it s was quite boring. The girls all want to sing chinese songs, there were 2 thai guy who want to sing thai song, Kelvin will sing all the oldies or alternative songs, and i didn't have much opportunity but just sing along together gether.

I have no idea how much it is for per pax but the total bill came up to AUD$485. No joke. Kelvin and some of the guys paid for everything. I wanted to pay but he said he invited and his treat. The others paid a little and Kelvin paid like $300.

This is something new but it was blood sucking. Way too expensive. I only got home at 4am last night.

Before i left, Paul (hostfather) actually asked me if i am staying over at my friend's place. I told him no. I will be home. Then he asked me by what time if i am not home, he should call the police. Then i laughed and said, i have to go missing for 24 hours minimum. He left a light for me last night. I came back, make the least noise to make sure i do not wake anyone.

And today, i woke up early to start my group business plan and manage to do my part. Meeting with my group members at 1pm. Discussed, planned, drew, designed and guess the name of our company. Haha. You're so not going to believe this.

MILK DESIGN.

Cool huh? We came up with MOO at first then went to milk. Then Kamil and Felix (group members) kept joking about cow Cow COW - MOO~!!!! they keep making the moo sound and acting like cows. Then we found our slogan. "The Freshest Moo"! Translate: the freshest design. "Moo" is our design. We're a design based company. We design for people, whether industrial or interior and we sell our design and join partnership with other companies. First target, either Motorola or Nokia.

Tomorrow i have to meet Peter and Jenny. Then Monday i have group meeting again with this crazy group.

My schedule is quite pack for now. Keep me entertained. Haha.

HOT CROSS BUNS

What do you know? I helped Janet (hostmother) to make Hot Cross Buns. It was good. I tried them. She thinks it is really simple to make them so we made another round of it. It was GOOD. I hate bread and i hate fruits or anything in my bread. I don't even like wholemeal. I hate everything about bread. To my astonishment, i'm starting to like it now. I have wholemeal bread every morning for breakfast and sometimes lunch. I just ate hot cross buns for goodness sake. I don't like raisins or mix citrus. I don't like fruit cake because of the fruits but I ATE HOT CROSS BUNS. We had them fresh from the oven.

I did my laundry today and helped Emily (Rupert's gf) to do some of hers as well. It's just 3 piece of her clothes in there. She went out with Rupert yesterday and she lost her handbag. She just got herself a new hp and she has like AUD$400 cash. She lost them all. She really had a rough day, that poor girl. Her upbringing is also very devastating. That girl has been through quite a bit. She now has to make her ID again and report to the police. All the hassle. Oh dear. Hope she gets better.

Oh yes. Peter and Jenny, mom's friend's brother and sis-in-law just txt me and invited me for Easter Sunday. That is very thoughtful of them. She rang me up and told me that she will pick me up at noon on Sunday. We will all go for Yum Cha for lunch at Chinatown i think, then head to her place, and she'll make dinner. Isn't that lovely? By the way, Yum Cha here is actually eating Dim Sum. I am new to this too. Haha.

I actually have a group meeting on sunday but i have brought that forward to tomorrow. I have to meet my group for our business plan in QV tomorrow.

Tonight i'll be going over to Kelvin's place for dinner and his birthday celebration. He's turning 22. WOW. Makes me feel so OLD.

So i guess i there is nothing left to say except:-

What am i to do today? It is Good Friday. I certainly do not go to church. Well, we got Kelvin his birthday cake from Chinatown yesterday with Teng, Hong and Albert. Today will be homely day i guess. I will have to catch up on my laundry too. Maybe clean my room a little. I borrowed like 15 books from the library and they're everywhere. Library is closed for a week. Trying to be prepared. =)

I don't know what the host family is doing but i think Janet is going to the church and later make hot cross bun. Some traditional food during Good Friday. I got my work permit and looking for a job right now. It is bored staying at home doing nothing and not having the extra cash to go shopping or travelling. And working, i can meet new people. Learn some new stuff. I am thinking of being either a waitress or assistant chef. Help up in the kitchen since i do that here everyday. But i don't know. I'll keep my options open.

Has anyone ever had a dream and it really does come true? It may not be exactly what you dreamt but the gist of it is similar. Like some kind of deja vu.

Anyway, i heard from my mom there was a bomb scare in Penang. Yes, IN PENANG~!!! scary man. terrorism. in Malaysia. It is freaking crazy. Wow. Btw, how is everything now? Have they find out who did it? Or why he did it?

Cheers to all. Easter break has started, autumn is here.

Not much of a break for me. Tonnes to do. However, I am still going to have a great holiday and a good break. Kelvin's birthday is this friday and he has invited us to his place for dinner. He is my senior in Lim Kok Wing and KC's friends from Heng Ee.

Just to keep everyone updated, KC has left for UK yesterday morning. That fella called me so early in the morning and woke me up from my beauty sleep. He just called to tell me he's leaving and that he is at the airport. How sweet. Gonna miss that fella for a while.

Homestay is going okay for me but i am getting very lonely there. But as usual, Paul (hostfather) is always trying to crack some jokes, Janet is the health conscious one, who wouldn't be after recovering from breast cancer, Rupert is the smart one in the family and Lily is the princess.

Uni life? It is goin quite fine. Work is starting to pile up. There are ups and downs, happy moments and frustrating moments. Life goes on, though.
